Scholarly Research

This guide contains information on researching common source types, using the library catalog, requesting interlibrary services, and more.

ILLiad Account

An ILLiad account is required for Interlibrary Loan and Article Express. Use your Buckeyemail username and password to register and log in to ILLiad.

Note that OhioLINK is not part of the ILLiad platform. More information on OhioLINK is included on the Home tab of this guide.

Interlibrary Loan

Use Interlibrary Loan to request materials that are unavailable in the Ohio State University Libraries. Select the Law Library as your delivery location and fill out the form. You will receive an email when the material is ready to be picked up. Materials from other libraries take 6 to 9 days on average to receive.

Note that e-books are not obtainable through Interlibrary Loan.

How do you know whether another library has a copy of the item you are looking to borrow? ILLiad and WorldCat are two components of OCLC's worldwide library cooperative, so you can find whether an item is held by a participating library by looking the item up on WorldCat@OSU.

Article Express

Use Article Express to request scanned PDFs of scholarly articles and book chapters from Ohio State and non-Ohio State collections outside of the Law Library. Most article and chapter scans take approximately 1 to 3 days for electronic delivery. You will receive an email when the PDF is available to download.

Please be as judicious as possible in submitting requests.
