Moritz College of Law
The Law Library took the opportunity to engage with students and celebrate National Library Week on Monday, April 24, which happened to coincide with the last day of classes at Moritz College of Law. The event featured doughnuts, coffee, and hot cocoa courtesy of the Law Library; snacks, swag, and information courtesy of our vendor co-sponsors (Bloomberg, Lexis, Westlaw, and ProQuest); and decorations courtesy of our student group co-sponsor (Public Interest Law Foundation). Students had the chance to converse and have fun with their classmates and other faculty and staff who stopped by for the event. We displayed our librarians' book recommendations next to the coffee and swag. We also set out the library's entry for the Ohio Regional Association of Law Libraries' 5th Annual "Peep" Show Contest, in which we decorated Peep marshmallow candies to look like various 2023 Grammy award winners (and added Peep-like twists on the recording artists' names, of course!).
As part of this end-of-the semester event, the library offered some options for students to de-stress and get creative before hunkering down for exams. Students could pet and cuddle with Cascade, a Buckeye Paws therapy dog, decorate their own bookmarks, and post their favorite memories from the school year on our "highlights" wall. Students could also try their hand at a fairly difficult mini-golf course that was set up in our second-floor stacks. We left the golf course and the highlights wall up for the rest of the week, and students have been continuing to add to the wall, tag their highlights on Instagram @MoritzLawLib, and play a quiet game of mini-golf when they need a break from studying. Students genuinely appreciated the food, fun, and fellowship, and the opportunity before exams started to relax and engage with others in our community!
