The Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) is a two-hour, 60-question multiple-choice examination administered three times per year by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) on Pearson VUE's testing center computers. The MPRE consists of 60 multiple-choice questions: 50 scored questions and 10 unscored pretest questions.
Visit NCBE's Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination webpage for more information on the MPRE. The webpage also includes a subject matter outline, a list of key words and phrases used on the exam, and a set of free sample test questions.
The MPRE tests the law governing the conduct and discipline of lawyers and judges, which primarily comes from the American Bar Association's Model Rules of Professional Conduct and Model Code of Judicial Conduct. Both publications are freely available online:
A number of free courses are available to help you study for and pass the MPRE. These courses generally include an outline, video lectures, practice questions, and practice exams.
