The Moritz Law Library is excited to welcome our students into the library space for the 2022-2023 academic year! Now that we are a couple of months into the semester, we wanted to take this opportunity to provide students with some helpful tips and reminders about use of the library space.

Study Carrels and Outlets

Students can reserve study carrels by picking up a carrel application at the Circulation Desk. Two people will be assigned to each carrel (complete one application for both students). Carrels are assigned on a first come, first served basis, and they will be reassigned each academic year.

If you need to plug in your laptop in the library, study carrels are also equipped with outlets. The outlets are located underneath the carrel “shelves” (see the below image) and below the carrel desk spaces.

The library’s standing desks and mezzanine overhang are also equipped with outlets, and students can also plug in their devices in the wall outlets near some of the study tables.

Study Rooms

The third floor of the Law Library contains nine study rooms exclusively for law student use. Reservations are made using the “Reserve a Study Room” link on the Intranet, or by scanning the QR code posted at the Circulation Desk. Rooms may be reserved up to seven days in advance and for up to four hours total per day. Each study room is equipped with a white board and markers.

Water Bottle Filling Stations

Stay hydrated while you are studying! The Law Library has water bottle filling stations on the first and third floors, near the restrooms. The drinking fountain near the restrooms on the second (main) floor has a water bottle filling attachment.

Reminder of Library Policies

To create an environment where all students can productively use the library, we ask that everyone:

• Clean up after themselves. The Library provides sanitizing wipes, paper towels, and trash and recycling receptacles.

• Be mindful of their noise. Students can use study rooms or the Library’s lower level as a space to collaborate, take a phone call, or participate in an online class.

• Keep track of their laptops, bags, and other belongings. Circulation and the College’s Student Services Suite each maintain a “lost and found.” The Library is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

For more details about library services and policies, check out the library’s Law Student Services guide.
